This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party services that may be linked from or used by the App, such as Google services, whose privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

3. Information We Collect

We design ChemLab to minimize data collection. Most core chemistry features work locally on your device.

Depending on how you use the App, your device, your region, and your consent settings, the following categories of data may be collected or processed:

This information helps us understand app performance and improve the user experience.

B. App Information and Performance Data

We may collect technical information such as:

  • app version
  • operating system version
  • device model
  • language/locale
  • basic diagnostic and performance information
  • app instance identifiers generated by analytics services

This information is used for analytics, troubleshooting, and service improvement.

C. Device or Other Identifiers

If ads are shown in the free version of the App, advertising-related identifiers or other device identifiers may be processed by our advertising partners, including identifiers used to deliver, measure, or limit advertising.

D. Approximate Location

Approximate location may be inferred by advertising providers from technical signals such as IP address for ad delivery, fraud prevention, analytics, and legal compliance.

E. Purchase Status Information

If you purchase the Pro version or restore purchases, we may process limited purchase-related status information, such as whether premium access is active. Payment transactions themselves are processed by Google Play. We do not collect or store your full payment card details.

F. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The App may store certain information locally on your device, including:

  • favorites
  • history
  • settings/preferences
  • theme or interface settings
  • certain app state data needed for normal operation

This local data is generally not uploaded to our own servers.

4. Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect Directly

ChemLab does not intentionally require users to create an account and does not directly collect the following from users for normal app usage:

  • full name
  • email address
  • phone number
  • home or mailing address
  • exact GPS location
  • contacts
  • calendar data
  • photos
  • videos
  • microphone recordings
  • camera content
  • government identification information
  • health information
  • financial account details or payment card numbers
  • login credentials for an in-app account

If this changes in a future version, we will update this Privacy Policy before or at the time of the change, as required.

5. How We Use Information

We use information for the following purposes:

  • to operate and provide the App’s features
  • to save user preferences and app settings
  • to analyze usage and improve functionality, stability, and design
  • to monitor app performance and diagnose issues
  • to provide advertising in the free version of the App
  • to manage premium/Pro access and restore purchases
  • to comply with legal obligations
  • to protect the security, integrity, and lawful use of the App

We do not sell your personal information.

6. When and How Information Is Shared

We may share or allow processing of certain data with trusted third-party service providers that help us operate the App.

A. Analytics Providers

We use analytics services, such as Google Firebase Analytics, to understand app usage, feature engagement, and general performance.

B. Advertising Providers

We use advertising services, such as Google AdMob, in the free version of the App. These providers may process advertising identifiers, device information, approximate location inferred from IP, and ad interaction data for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and related purposes.

C. Purchase and Billing Providers

In-app purchases are handled through Google Play Billing. Google may process billing and transaction information according to its own privacy policy and terms.

D. Legal and Safety Reasons

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or lawful governmental request, or when necessary to protect our rights, users, or the public.

7. Legal Basis and Consent

Where required by applicable law, we rely on one or more legal bases to process information, such as:

  • your consent
  • performance of a service requested by you
  • legitimate interests, such as app security, fraud prevention, analytics, and product improvement
  • compliance with legal obligations

Where required, we may request your consent for certain data processing activities, including consent choices related to advertising.

8. Advertising and Consent

The free version of ChemLab may display ads. If ads are displayed, third-party advertising partners may process certain device data to deliver and measure ads.

Where required by applicable law, we may present a consent message that allows users to make choices about ad-related data processing.

You may also be able to manage certain advertising preferences through your device settings or applicable Google settings.

Users who purchase the Pro version may receive an ad-free experience, subject to the App’s current feature design.

9. Data Storage and Retention

We retain data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

A. Local Device Data

Favorites, history, settings, and similar data stored locally on your device remain there until:

  • you delete them within the App, if that option is available
  • you clear the App’s data through your device settings
  • you uninstall the App

B. Analytics and Advertising Data

Data processed by third-party providers such as Google Firebase Analytics, Google AdMob, and Google Play may be retained according to their own retention periods and policies.

C. Purchase Status

Limited purchase status information may be retained as needed to provide premium access, restore purchases, comply with accounting/legal obligations, or resolve support issues.

10. Data Deletion and Your Choices

Because ChemLab generally does not require an in-app account, there is usually no account profile to delete.

You may request deletion or reduce data stored/processed in the following ways:

  • uninstall the App
  • clear the App’s local storage from your device settings
  • reset advertising identifiers or ad preferences in supported device/Google settings
  • contact us if you have a question about data handled by us directly

Please note that some data may be controlled by third-party providers such as Google, and requests related to those systems may need to be handled through those providers’ own privacy tools and settings.

11. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to help protect information processed in connection with the App.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. International Data Transfers

Third-party service providers we use may process information on servers located in different countries. By using the App, you understand that information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own, subject to applicable law.

13. Children’s Privacy

ChemLab is an educational app intended for a general audience, including students. We do not knowingly ask children to provide direct personal information to use the core features of the App.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information directly to us in a way that should not have occurred, please contact us and we will review the matter and take appropriate action.

Parents and guardians should also review device settings, Google Play settings, and advertising/privacy controls available on the child’s device.

14. Third-Party Services

The App may rely on third-party services, including but not limited to:

  • Google Firebase Analytics
  • Google AdMob
  • Google Play Billing / Google Play services

These third parties may collect or process information in accordance with their own privacy notices and terms. We encourage you to review their policies for more details.

15. No Account Required

At this time, ChemLab does not require users to create a personal account to access normal features of the App.

If account-based features are added in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated to explain how account data is collected, used, retained, and deleted.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect:

  • changes in the App’s features
  • changes in our data practices
  • legal, regulatory, or platform policy updates

When we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date above. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Privacy Policy, to the extent permitted by law.
