Privacy Policy for Trial Shield

This Privacy Policy explains how AppMaven ("AppMaven," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Trial Shield Android application (the "App"), package name com.appmaven.trialshield.

Trial Shield helps you record subscriptions and free trials, estimate recurring costs, and receive local reminders. The App does not create a Trial Shield account and does not connect to your bank, payment card, subscription providers, SMS messages, contacts, or precise GPS location.

Your subscription records are primarily stored on your device. However, Google services used for advertising, consent management, purchases, app reviews, and Android backup may process information as described below. Please read this Policy together with the privacy controls shown in the App and on your Android device.

1. Information You Provide and Store in the App

1.1 Subscription and trial records

When you add or import an item, the App may store details such as the service name, price, currency, billing cycle, start date, renewal or trial end date, category, notes, status, and locally generated payment history. These records are used to display your dashboard, calculate projected spending, and schedule reminders.

These records are stored in the App's local database. AppMaven does not operate a server that receives or stores your Trial Shield subscription records.

1.2 App settings

The App stores settings such as your selected language, theme, default currency, notification preference, onboarding status, biometric-lock preference, and Premium status on your device.

1.3 Clipboard content

Trial Shield reads clipboard text only after you tap the App's paste button. The text is parsed on your device to help fill fields such as a service name, price, or currency. AppMaven does not upload clipboard content to its own server.

1.4 JSON import and export

You may import a JSON backup that you select. You may also create a JSON export containing your subscription records. Export uses the Android sharing interface, so you choose the destination. After you share or save an export outside Trial Shield, the selected app, storage provider, or recipient handles that copy under its own privacy terms. You are responsible for protecting and deleting exported copies.

1.5 Support communications

If you contact AppMaven by email or through the contact page, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, message, and any attachments. We use it to respond, troubleshoot, prevent abuse, and maintain necessary support records.

2. Information Processed by Google Services

2.1 Google Mobile Ads (AdMob)

The free version of Trial Shield displays ads using the Google Mobile Ads SDK. According to Google's SDK disclosure, the SDK may automatically collect and share the following data:

Approximate location: a general location estimated from the device's IP address. Trial Shield does not request precise GPS location for advertising.
App interactions: information such as app launches, taps, ad interactions, and video views.
Diagnostics: information about the performance of the App and the advertising SDK, such as launch time, hang rate, and energy usage.
Device or other identifiers: the Android advertising ID, App Set ID, and, where applicable, other device or account-related identifiers.

Google processes this information for advertising or marketing, analytics, and fraud prevention, security, and compliance. Google states that data collected by the Google Mobile Ads SDK is encrypted in transit using Transport Layer Security (TLS).

Purchasing Trial Shield Premium removes ads from the App. Data that Google collected before the purchase remains subject to Google's retention practices.

2.2 Google User Messaging Platform

Trial Shield uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request and manage applicable advertising consent and privacy choices. Depending on your region and Google's requirements, you may see a consent message. When required, the App also shows a GDPR Privacy Options item in Settings so you can review available choices.

Choosing non-personalized ads does not necessarily stop all data processing. Google may still process limited device, interaction, diagnostic, or security data needed to deliver, measure, and protect advertising services.

2.3 Google Play Billing

Trial Shield offers an optional one-time Premium purchase through Google Play. Google Play processes the payment and may handle purchase activity, account information, payment information, and related transaction data under Google's Privacy Policy.

The App receives product details, purchase status, purchase history, and a purchase token from Google Play so it can unlock Premium, acknowledge a purchase, and restore a prior purchase. Trial Shield stores the resulting Premium status locally. AppMaven does not receive or store your full payment card number, bank account number, or Google Account password.

2.4 Google Play In-App Review

Trial Shield may display Google Play's in-app review interface. If you choose to submit a rating or written review, Google Play processes that content. A review may become public on Google Play or may be shared privately with the developer when submitted on a closed testing track. You can manage or delete your review through Google Play or your Google Account.

2.5 Android Auto Backup and device transfer

Android backup is enabled for Trial Shield. Depending on your device, Android version, Google Account, manufacturer, and backup settings, Android may back up and restore the App's local database, preferences, and internal files to a private area associated with your Google Account, or transfer them to another device. AppMaven does not directly access these backups.

Google states that Android backups are protected by the user's Google Account credentials and are end-to-end encrypted on supported devices running Android 9 or later using the device's screen lock. You can manage device backup settings through Android and your Google Account.

3. How Information Is Used

Information described in this Policy is used to:

store and display subscription and trial records;
calculate estimated recurring costs and locally generated payment history;
schedule and display local renewal and trial reminders;
import, export, restore, and delete records at your direction;
provide optional biometric access control;
display and measure ads in the free version;
manage applicable advertising consent and privacy choices;
process, acknowledge, and restore the optional Premium purchase;
offer the Google Play review interface;
detect fraud, protect services, diagnose performance, and comply with legal obligations; and
respond to support inquiries.

4. When Information Is Shared

Information may be disclosed in the following circumstances:

Google services: technical, advertising, consent, purchase, review, and backup-related information is processed by Google as described in Section 2.
At your direction: when you export a JSON backup, submit a Play Store review, or otherwise choose to share information.
Legal and safety reasons: information controlled by AppMaven, such as support communications, may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to a valid legal request, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or enforce applicable terms.
Business transfer: information controlled by AppMaven may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate notice and legal safeguards.

AppMaven does not sell your locally stored subscription records or support messages for monetary consideration. Google's advertising data practices are governed by Google's policies and your available privacy choices.

5. Permissions and Device Features

Notifications: used, with your permission where required, to show local reminders. Reminder delivery can be affected by Android notification and battery settings.
Device restart: used to rebuild future local reminder schedules after a reboot.
Internet and network state: used by Google advertising, consent, billing, and Play services.
Biometric authentication: if you enable Biometric Lock, Android displays and evaluates the biometric prompt. Trial Shield receives only the authentication result and does not receive or store your fingerprint template or face map.

Trial Shield does not request access to precise location, contacts, call logs, SMS messages, camera, microphone, or banking credentials.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

6.1 Data stored by the App

Subscription records and settings remain on your device until you edit or delete them, clear the App's storage, or uninstall the App. You can delete individual subscription records or use Settings > Delete All Data to delete all subscription records from the App's current local database.

Deleting records in Trial Shield or uninstalling the App may not immediately delete copies that already exist in Android backup, device-transfer data, an exported JSON file, or a destination you selected. Those copies are controlled through the relevant Android, Google Account, storage provider, recipient, or device settings.

6.2 Data handled by Google

Google determines the retention and deletion periods for data processed by AdMob, UMP, Google Play Billing, Google Play reviews, and Android backup. You can use Android advertising ID controls, Google Account privacy controls, Play Store review controls, and device backup settings where available.

6.3 Support communications

AppMaven retains support messages only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain support history, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Retention time may vary according to the nature of the request and applicable law.

7. Your Privacy Choices

Add, edit, archive, or delete subscription records within the App.
Use Delete All Data to remove subscription records from the local database.
Choose whether to paste clipboard text or import/export a JSON file.
Allow or deny notification permission and change notification settings in Android.
Enable or disable Biometric Lock in the App.
Review available advertising choices through a Google consent message or the in-app privacy options item when required.
Reset or delete the Android advertising ID and manage ad personalization through available Android or Google settings.
Purchase Premium to remove ads from Trial Shield.
Manage Google Play purchases, ratings, and reviews through Google Play or your Google Account.
Manage Android backup through your device and Google Account settings.

Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide additional rights regarding developer-controlled personal information. Trial Shield has no user account or developer-hosted database of your subscription records, so most App data is controlled directly on your device. For information handled by Google, use Google's privacy tools and contact options. For questions about information controlled by AppMaven, contact us using Section 13.

8. Security

Trial Shield uses Android's app storage protections for local data. Optional biometric authentication can restrict access to the App on supported devices. Data transmitted by the Google Mobile Ads SDK is encrypted in transit using TLS, and Google services use their own security controls. Android backup protection depends on the device, Android version, Google Account, and screen-lock configuration.

No storage or transmission method is completely secure. You should protect your device, Google Account, exported JSON files, and screen lock, and avoid sharing backups with untrusted recipients.

9. Children's Privacy

Trial Shield is a personal subscription-management utility and is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required in their country to consent to the processing of personal data. We do not knowingly ask children to create an account or submit personal information directly to AppMaven through the App. If you believe a child has sent personal information to AppMaven through a support channel, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.

10. International Processing

Google and other services you choose when exporting data may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Their processing is governed by their respective privacy policies and applicable transfer safeguards.

11. Third-Party Privacy Resources

Links are provided for convenience. Third-party services may update their terms, controls, and data practices independently of AppMaven.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Trial Shield's features, SDKs, data practices, or legal obligations change. We will post the revised Policy at this page and update the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated in the App or through the Google Play listing when appropriate.
