Privacy Policy for Mewside
Effective date: October 13, 2026
Last updated: October 13, 2026
This policy describes the Mewside: Find Cats in Hiding Android game, developed by AppMaven ("we", "us"). The package name is com.appmaven.mewside.
At a glance
- Mewside has no account, sign-up or login. Your game progress is saved on your device, and we do not run a server that receives it.
- The game shows ads from Google AdMob. Google collects and shares device identifiers, approximate location derived from your IP address, ad and app interactions and diagnostics for advertising. Where the law requires it, the game asks for your choice first.
- Optional purchases are paid through Google Play. We never see your card number or billing address.
- The game includes Google analytics and crash-reporting tools that are switched off when the game is installed.
- The game does not ask for your camera, microphone, contacts, photos or precise location.
1. Information stored on your device
The game keeps a save file in its own app storage. It contains the rooms you have finished and the cats you have found in rooms still in progress, the cat friends you have met and your favorite cat, your fish and hint balances, the decorations you own and where they are placed, daily gift and tutorial progress, and your settings for music, sounds, vibration and language.
The same file holds a few counters the game needs to limit advertising (how many ads were shown today and when the last full-screen ad appeared), the identifiers of your most recent Google Play purchases that were already delivered, and whether you own Remove Ads.
We do not transmit this save file to an AppMaven server. The game has no sign-up, no developer-operated account system and no backend that stores your progress.
2. Android backup and device transfer
The game does not opt out of Android's default backup behavior. Depending on your Android version, device and backup settings, app data may be included in cloud backup associated with your Google account or transferred to another device. AppMaven does not receive or read those backups. Manage backups through your device and Google account controls; available settings vary by device. Removing local app data does not necessarily remove an existing backup.
3. Advertising and consent
The game uses Google AdMob to display two kinds of ads: reward ads, which play only when you tap a button to watch one for a hint or for double fish, and full-screen ads, which can appear when you leave a room you have just finished. Google's Mobile Ads SDK collects and shares the following categories for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention:
- Approximate location: your IP address may be used to estimate the general location of your device. The game does not request precise GPS location.
- App interactions: events such as app launches, taps and video views.
- Diagnostics: information about the performance of the app and the advertising SDK, such as app launch time, hang rate and energy usage.
- Device or other identifiers: the Android advertising ID, the app set ID and, where applicable, other identifiers related to accounts signed in on the device.
Google states that data collected by this advertising SDK is encrypted in transit using TLS. See Google's Mobile Ads data disclosure and how Google uses information from apps that use its services. On devices that support them, the advertising SDK may also use Android's privacy-preserving advertising interfaces.
The game uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain and manage advertising privacy choices where required, including in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. The game only requests ads after UMP reports that it may do so. Your choices affect which advertising processing is permitted; declining personalization does not necessarily mean that all ads stop.
When a choice is available for your region, open Settings → Privacy options in the game to review or change it. You can also reset or delete the advertising ID in your Android privacy settings. These controls do not by themselves delete data previously processed by Google.
The Remove Ads purchase turns off the full-screen ads between rooms once the game recognizes that you own it. Reward ads stay available because you choose when to watch them. The purchase does not delete past advertising data or disable every Google component used by the game.
4. Google Play purchases
The game offers two optional purchases: Remove Ads (a one-time purchase) and 10 Hints (a pack that can be bought again). Payments are handled by Google Play, which processes purchase and payment information under its own policies. We do not receive your payment card number or billing address.
The game receives product and transaction information from Google Play, including purchase status, the transaction identifier and the signed purchase receipt. It checks the receipt on your device, delivers what you bought, confirms the transaction with Google Play and restores Remove Ads when you reinstall. The identifiers of delivered purchases and your Remove Ads status are kept in the save file described in section 1.
Purchases are made through Unity's In-App Purchasing SDK, which connects the game to Google Play Billing. According to Unity's data disclosure for this SDK, it collects approximate location and email address (both processed only temporarily), user identifiers, purchase history, crash logs, diagnostics and other app performance data, and device or other identifiers. Unity states that this data is used for app functionality and analytics, is encrypted in transit and is not shared with third parties. Unity's own Game Player and App User Privacy Policy applies to that processing.
Purchase records remain subject to Google Play's retention and refund processes. Clearing the game's storage is not a refund and does not erase your Google Play purchase history.
5. Analytics and crash reporting
The game includes Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics. Both are switched off when the game is installed and stay off unless the game switches them on. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland the game does not switch them on unless you have agreed in the consent message described in section 3.
When they are on, Google processes the following on our behalf so that we can understand how the game is played and fix crashes:
- Google Analytics for Firebase: an app-instance identifier, the Android advertising ID, coarse location derived from a masked IP address, screen views, sessions and gameplay events (for example a room being started or finished), and in-app purchase events with the product identifier, name and price.
- Firebase Crashlytics: crash traces, the state of the app and device at the time of the crash, device model, operating-system version and a Crashlytics installation identifier.
The game does not attach your name, email address or an account identifier to this data, and it is configured so that analytics data is not used for ad personalization by default. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.
6. Support correspondence and other disclosures
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. We use that correspondence to answer and handle your request. Do not send payment credentials unless they are necessary for the issue you want help with.
We do not sell your personal information for money. Google and Unity process information as described above under their own policies. Operating-system and store diagnostics are separate platform services governed by their providers.
7. Permissions and security
The game and the Google and Unity components included in it use network access, Google Play Billing, vibration for touch feedback, background-work permissions needed by the advertising components, the advertising ID permission and the Google Play install referrer. The game does not request camera, microphone, contacts, photo-library, notification or location access.
Android protects local app storage through its application sandbox. We cannot guarantee absolute security for any device, storage system or transmission.
8. Retention and deletion
| Information | Retention and controls |
|---|---|
| Game progress and settings | Stored on the device until you clear the game's storage in Android settings or uninstall the game. |
| Backups | Managed by Android, your backup provider and your account settings. A backup can outlast a local uninstall and may restore app data. |
| Advertising data | Held by Google under its policies. Advertising ID and consent controls affect future processing; they are not a promise to erase past records. |
| Purchase records | Managed by Google Play, and by Unity for the data collected by its purchasing SDK. Their retention is separate from the purchase status saved on your device. |
| Analytics and crash data | Held by Google under the Firebase terms when collection is on. Clearing the game's storage or uninstalling resets the identifiers used on your device. |
| Support correspondence | Kept as needed to handle the request and applicable legal obligations. Contact us about information you have sent us. |
There is no Mewside account to delete, and the game has no in-app service that erases data held by Google, Unity or other providers. We cannot delete those providers' records on your behalf. This does not limit any privacy rights you may have. For information held by a provider, use its privacy controls or contact it. For information held by us, email us or use our data deletion request page and choose "Other / Multiple Apps".
9. Privacy rights and international processing
Depending on your location and the processing involved, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or receive a copy of personal data, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
Where applicable, processing relies on your consent for consent-based advertising and analytics, on the fulfillment of purchases or support you request, and on legitimate interests or legal obligations for security, fraud prevention and recordkeeping. Google's and Unity's policies explain their own processing grounds and responsibilities.
If you live in California: we do not sell personal information for money. The use of advertising identifiers for personalized advertising may be considered "sharing" under California law. You can opt out by deleting or resetting the advertising ID in your Android settings, or through the privacy options in the game where they are offered. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Google and Unity may process information outside your country. Their policies describe the locations and safeguards relevant to their services. Contact us for questions about information handled by AppMaven.
10. Children's privacy
Mewside is not directed to children under 13, or under the age at which consent to data processing is required in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to AppMaven, contact us and we will delete it.
